Pune: While the COVID-19 pandemic has brought uncertainty in the job market as many companies have put fresh hiring on hold, experts have highlighted that there are new opportunities coming up in the market for people.

Experts said some industries will be hit due to the pandemic but there will be growth in others.

Neha Bagaria, Founder and CEO JobsforHer said, JobsforHer is witnessing a higher footfall of women candidates registering and applying for jobs on their platform. "The hiring and onboarding processes are continuing as planned during this work-from-home period. The only difference is that it is being done virtually instead of physically," added Bagaria.

She said there has been a 30 per cent increase in remote working job openings in the past couple of months compared to the previous year. Most of the jobs posted are in Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Pune and Hyderabad.

"We have seen an upward curve in the positions being offered for gig roles through virtual hiring events. There are several industries, which are continuing hiring efforts such as IT, Pharmaceuticals, BFSI and FMCG. There is also an increase in demand for gig workers, who are willing to work part-time/ freelance/ work-from-home or on a project basis," said Bagaria.

Zairus Master, CEO, Shine.com said with remote working becoming the norm, it is likely that there is more demand for specific talent in this field whether it is IT professionals to develop software and apps for remote working or customer support executives.

"Some sectors are likely to witness an uptick in hiring due to COVID-19 Healthcare, of course, will lead but as people are staying indoors, e-commerce and online delivery portals should see a gradual increase in demand. This is also an opportune time for people to upskill themselves. This should boost the online education and training sector," added Master.
