In a major milestone for India's aviation infrastructure, two airports operated by Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) have been named among the Prix Versailles World's Most Beautiful Airports 2026. Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) and Terminal 2 of Guwahati's Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA) were recognised for their architectural excellence, sustainability initiatives and passenger-centric design, placing them among the world's most distinguished airport projects.

What is The Prix Versailles

The Prix Versailles is a prestigious global architecture and design award presented annually at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris since 2015. The awards recognise newly launched airports and terminals that combine architectural excellence, innovation and sustainability, highlighting how modern airports are evolving beyond transportation hubs into distinctive public spaces.

Alongside Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) and Guwahati's Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA), five other airports were named among the World's Most Beautiful Airports 2026:

  • Guangzhou Airport, China

  • Frankfurt Airport, Germany

  • Kandal Stueng Airport, Cambodia

  • Pittsburgh International Airport, United States

  • San Diego International Airport, United States

The Prix Versailles awards aim to promote intelligent sustainability, where culture serves and transcends the concept of the environment. Presented annually, three airports and/or airport terminals from the 2026 list will also receive a World Title (Prix Versailles, Interior or Exterior), to be awarded at the end of the year.

Terminal 1 of Navi Mumbai International Airport has been honoured for its unique lotus-inspired architecture, cutting-edge design approach, and seamless blend of technology, art, and practicality, establishing a world-class gateway that embodies India’s ambitions as a contemporary global economy.

Guwahati Airport's Terminal 2 was recognised for its Bamboo Orchid-inspired design, which reflects Northeast India's biodiversity and indigenous heritage while emphasising sustainability.

An Adani Airport Holdings spokesperson said, "We are honoured to see our airports recognised on a global platform and remain committed to delivering world-class experiences that position India among the leading aviation markets of the world."
