Pune: Dattatray Gade, the prime accused in the Swargate rape case, has been arrested by Pune Police from a sugarcane field in Shirur. Following his arrest, the court has remanded him to police custody until March 12. Investigations into Gade’s criminal background over the past two years have revealed shocking details.

Dattatray Gade allegedly targeted women in multiple ways, including:

  • Luring victims at bus stands, particularly in crowded areas.

  • Monitoring and blackmailing women involved in extramarital affairs outside lodges.

  • Robbing women who were alone.

  • Posing as a Police Officer to Commit Fraud

A new revelation has added another layer to his criminal activities—Gade allegedly impersonated a police officer to extort money from people. A photo of him in a police uniform has surfaced, though authorities are still verifying its authenticity. Police records indicate that Gade has at least 10 criminal cases registered against him across various police stations.

Frequent Criminal Activity Across Multiple Locations

Police investigations have found that Gade was active in several locations, including:

  • Swargate Bus Stand

  • Shivajinagar

  • Pune Railway Station

  • Shirur

  • Ahilyanagar

  • Solapur city bus stand

Among these, Swargate was identified as his primary area of operation, suggesting that he may have committed multiple offenses there over time.

Crime Branch Urges Victims to Come Forward

Given Gade’s extensive criminal history, the Crime Branch has urged women who may have fallen victim to his crimes to come forward and file complaints. The emergence of his photo in a police uniform has raised serious concerns among authorities.

Swargate, Shivajinagar, and Pune Railway Station are high-traffic locations with continuous movement of travelers, making them potential hotspots for criminal activities. Police suspect that Gade exploited these crowded areas to commit crimes undetected.
