Pune: Cab Hijacked at Knifepoint; Suspects Hit Vehicles and Pedestrian During Escape

Accused hit a pedestrian, two autorickshaws, and a Swift car. Eventually, the thieves dropped the driver off on Jangli Maharaj Road and drove away with the stolen cab.

Pune, 2nd December 2024: In a dramatic daylight crime in Pune, two men hijacked a cab at knifepoint and caused chaos on the streets as they fled the scene. The incident occurred between 3:30 PM and 4:30 PM on Sunday (December 1), starting at Egg Hatchery Square and extending to Jangli Maharaj Road.

The victim, identified as Akshay Bhausaheb Kale (19), was driving passengers from Dehu to Pune Railway Station when the suspects intercepted his vehicle near Egg Hatchery Square.

The accused, identified as Mustafa Shafir Qureshi alias Musa (19) and Siddhant Chavan, forcibly stopped the cab, snatched the keys, and took control of the vehicle.

Brandishing a knife, the suspects intimidated the cab driver, robbed him of cash, and forced him into the car.

During their high-speed escape, the accused hit a pedestrian, two autorickshaws, and a Swift car. Eventually, the thieves dropped the driver off on Jangli Maharaj Road and drove away with the stolen cab.

The Khadki Police have registered a case and are actively investigating the matter. Police Sub-Inspector Anna Gunjal is leading the probe to apprehend the suspects and recover the vehicle.
