Pune: A fearless elderly woman in Pune’s Deccan area recently taught a car driver a lesson in discipline after he attempted to drive on a bridge reserved for two-wheelers. The incident, which was caught on camera, has gone viral on social media, drawing widespread support from netizens.
The incident took place at the Yashwantrao Chavan Bridge, located near Swatantryaveer Savarkar Memorial, which connects Deccan with Poona Hospital. Due to its narrow structure, the bridge is strictly reserved for two-wheelers.
Despite the restriction, a car driver attempted to cross the bridge. He managed to reach halfway across before being forced to stop by an elderly woman walking in the opposite direction.
Instead of moving aside, the woman firmly blocked the car’s path and sternly informed the driver that the bridge was only meant for two-wheelers. She insisted that he reverse immediately and refused to let him pass.
The driver, visibly embarrassed, had no choice but to reverse the car. However, the elderly woman did not stop there—she walked ahead of the car, ensuring he reversed all the way back to the main road.
A two-wheeler rider passing by recorded the entire incident on his mobile phone and later uploaded it on social media. The video quickly gained traction online, with netizens praising the woman’s bold stance.
Users flooded the comments section, saluting her courage and expressing frustration over irresponsible drivers who flout traffic rules. Some even suggested that if authorities fail to take action, it is up to responsible citizens to enforce discipline on the roads.
