Pune: A motorcyclist sustained minor injuries after slipping on spilled concrete gravel from an RMC mixer vehicle on the road from Dhayari Phata to Lagad Mala on Sinhagad Road on Saturday (July 20).

Just two weeks ago, on July 6, a news report about concrete spillage from a mixer had prompted officials from the Sinhagad Road Regional Office to clean the spilled concrete and impose heavy fines on the RMC mixer plant.

Officials had also promised to station two workers at the site to clean up any spilled concrete daily. However, with no workers assigned to the cleanup, mud heaps have formed on the road, causing motorcyclists to slip and fall.

Both the municipal administration and the RMC mixer owners remain silent on the issue. Drivers and residents demand immediate action from the municipal administration to remove the accident-causing concrete.

RMC mixers are spilling concrete on the road while transporting materials along Sinhagad Road.

"We will inform our construction department to take action, and we will impose strict fines on the concrete-spilling plants," said Sandeep Khalate, Assistant Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation, Sinhagad Road Ward Office.

Vehicles exceeding their load capacity, such as dumpers and RMC mixers, will be fined according to RTO regulations. "Penalties will be imposed on vehicles transporting concrete in violation of rules," said Rajkumar Barde, Assistant Police Inspector, Sinhagad Road Traffic Division.

The spilled concrete from mixers has created road hazards, forming speed bumps and causing minor accidents for motorcyclists. The municipal corporation must promptly remove the spilled concrete and clean the road.

"We demand strict action from the administration against companies that fail to follow regulations, ensuring the safety of all road users," stated Mahesh Pokale, Chief of Khadakwasla Constituency, Shiv Sena (Thackeray Group).
