Teen Arrested for Sexual Assault on 12-Year-Old Boy in Sangvi

Pune: An 18-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy in Sangvi, Pune.

The Wakad police apprehended the suspect, later identified as Uday Maruti Lokhande. The victim boy's father has filed a complaint at the Wakad police station.

This deeply disturbing incident took place on Saturday (August 31) morning around 9:30 AM on the road between Rahatni Bus Stop and Gondambe Chowk.

According to the police report, the young victim was walking towards Gondambe Chowk when Lokhande approached him on a motorcycle. Offering to give the boy a ride home, Lokhande instead took him to an empty room near a field in the Sangvi area.

Once there, Lokhande allegedly sexually assaulted the boy and issued threats to kill him if he revealed the incident to anyone. Following the assault, the boy managed to inform his family, who promptly reported the matter to the police. The police swiftly launched a search operation, leading to the arrest of Lokhande.

Assistant Police Inspector Ghorpade, who is overseeing the investigation, confirmed that Lokhande has been charged and taken into custody. The police are conducting further inquiries to gather evidence and understand the full scope of the crime.

Recently, a caretaker at a residential home for orphaned children in Alandi has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy. The incident occurred early on Saturday (August 17) morning around 5 AM. The suspect has been identified as Venkatesh Kashinath Malnoor. He has been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
