Authorities said heavy vehicles entering the city from major routes connected to Solapur, Ahilyanagar, Nashik, Mumbai and Satara have been contributing significantly to traffic bottlenecks and serious road accidents.

According to official data, heavy vehicles were involved in 30 fatal accidents in the city this year, resulting in 31 deaths.

Heavy vehicles travelling from Solapur towards Mumbai will be diverted via Kedgaon Chowfula, Nhavare, Shikrapur and Chakan. An alternative route through Uruli Kanchan, Koregaon Mul, Ashtapur, Shikrapur and Chakan will also be available during the restriction period.

Vehicles travelling from Mumbai towards Solapur will be routed through Talegaon Dabhade, Chakan, Shikrapur, Nhavare and Kedgaon Chowfula.

Traffic moving from Mumbai towards Ahilyanagar will be diverted through Talegaon, Chakan, Khed, Manchar and Alephata.

An additional route for vehicles heading towards Ahilyanagar has been designated via Nashik Phata, Bhosari, Chakan and Shikrapur.

The administration has exempted vehicles carrying petrol, diesel, milk and agricultural produce from the restriction. Heavy vehicles that must unload goods within the city can enter only after obtaining permission from the Traffic Department at least 72 hours in advance. Such vehicles will be allowed entry only between 11 pm and 6 am.

Officials have appealed to transport operators and vehicle owners to cooperate and use the designated alternate routes during the restriction period.
