Pune, 13th May 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is set to revise its hoarding fee policy, with new advertisement charges likely to range between ₹700 and ₹750 per square foot.
Civic officials said the move is aimed at increasing municipal revenue, which remains significantly lower than that of the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai.
The issue of hoarding fees has been under legal dispute for several years between PMC and advertising agencies. In 2013, the civic body had fixed the rate at ₹222 per square foot, a decision later challenged by hoarding operators in the Bombay High Court in 2018.
PMC informed the court that the policy also included a 10 percent annual increase in charges, which pushed the rate to nearly ₹580 per square foot by 2023. In December last year, the High Court ruled in favour of the civic body.
Hoarding operators later approached the Supreme Court seeking a stay on the revised rates. However, the apex court refused to grant relief, effectively clearing the way for PMC to recover pending dues and proceed with the revised fee structure.
“After the Supreme Court order, we are moving ahead with the revised hoarding fee structure. The process is in its final stage. PMC’s revenue from hoardings is much lower compared to Mumbai, where civic income from advertisements is nearly ten times higher. Some stakeholders are demanding rates of ₹350 per square foot, but the revised charges in Pune could be between ₹700 and ₹750 per square foot. The final decision will be taken in the general body meeting,” said Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram.
