Tata Electronics Breach Reportedly Exposes Apple Supplier Data and Alleged iPhone 18 Pro Images

The reported breach could offer an unprecedented glimpse into Apple's closely guarded supply chain as India becomes a major iPhone manufacturing hub.

A ransomware attack targeting Tata Electronics, one of Apple's key manufacturing partners in India, has reportedly exposed sensitive internal documents, including supplier information and alleged images of unreleased iPhone models.

According to a report by Reuters, the ransomware group "World Leaks" claimed responsibility for the breach on June 12 and said it had published around 630GB of data on the dark web.

What Was Allegedly Leaked

Documents reviewed by Reuters reportedly include:

  • Supplier lists linked to components used in the alleged iPhone 18 Pro models.

  • Details of chips, batteries, and camera components and the companies supplying them.

  • Information on where Apple uses multiple suppliers for a single component and where it relies on a limited number of vendors.

  • Photographs dated early 2026 purportedly showing iPhone prototypes undergoing drop testing at a Tata facility.

Some of the files reportedly carried Apple "confidential" markings and internal code names associated with the next-generation iPhone lineup.

The alleged breach could expose details of Apple's closely guarded supply chain and manufacturing relationships. Supplier-to-component mapping is not publicly disclosed by Apple and is considered commercially sensitive because it could reveal procurement strategies and supplier dependencies.

The incident also comes as India becomes an increasingly important manufacturing base for Apple. According to Counterpoint Research estimates cited by Reuters, India is expected to produce around 26 per cent of the world's iPhones in 2026, up from about 6 per cent four years ago.

Company Response

Reuters reported that Apple is investigating the incident and working with Tata on additional security measures. Tata has reportedly restricted access to certain systems and appointed external consultants to conduct a forensic review.

Neither Apple nor Tata responded to Reuters' requests for comment, and the news agency said it could not independently verify the authenticity of the leaked files.

Apple is widely expected to unveil its next-generation iPhone Pro models in September, although the company has not officially announced the devices or their specifications.
