According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the plane was operated by a 27-year-old pilot and had a 27-year-old passenger, both of whom emerged unscathed. The Camry was driven by a 57-year-old woman who was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Authorities identified the plane as a Beechcraft 55, which lost power in both engines shortly after an instructional flight from nearby Merritt Island. The pilot attempted an emergency landing on I-95 but collided with a beige 2023 Toyota Camry traveling in the center lane.

Observers characterized the accident as unreal. A witness mentioned the aircraft "came down out of nowhere," as drivers in the vicinity hurried to offer aid. Among those assisting were a father and son who had been traveling behind the Camry and stopped to support the woman until emergency personnel reached the scene.

The crash forced a temporary shutdown of both southbound and northbound lanes of I-95, causing major traffic disruption. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have launched a joint investigation, focusing on the reported dual-engine failure.
