Amid social media rumours of a 14-day curfew in Pune from May 26, city police have clarified that no curfew has been imposed. The clarification came after several online posts falsely claimed restrictions on public movement and gatherings across the city.

What’s the order about?

Pune Police have issued a 14-day preventive order across the city from May 26 to June 8 as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order during the upcoming festive period. The restrictions have been imposed under the Maharashtra Police Act.

During this period, public gatherings including rallies, protests, demonstrations and processions will be regulated or restricted in certain areas. Police said the move is aimed at preventing any disruption and ensuring public safety. Authorities have also warned that action may be taken against those found violating the order.
